Title

Strategic Goal: Old Town Revitalization:  Apply International Property Maintenance Code standards proactively in identified blighted areas; Remove unsafe structures from properties throughout the city.

Body

The Neighborhood Inspections Division of Housing and Neighborhood Services is asking that Council approve the involuntary demolition of the following dwellings:

1233 Sapaugh : House was cited two years ago, owner advised it was in foreclosure. Owner is now deceased; proceedings now over, bank is not interested in selling or repairing the home.

656 Simpson St.: Home is extremely deteriorated, no functioning plumbing or electrical. Efforts to contact owner unsuccessful - as she is supposedly incarcerated. We have not been successful at getting relatives to contact her. A squatter has taken up residence in the dwelling and neighbors are complaining.

914 Saluda St.: Council had approved involuntary at this site last year, but owner wanted to fix. To date, nothing has been done, so we are again requesting involuntary.

109 Pond St.: Home ownership is under review by City Attorney, since owner died both out of state and intestate.

524 Washington St.: This home has major deterioration and has been a nuisance to neighborhood for many years. The owner had the house next door demolished, but has ceased to return our phone calls and will not respond to letters regarding this home.

Pertinent information has been given to the appropriate councilmember.
