An ordinance to provide for the lease of space at the Airport from the City of Rock Hill to ITT Information Systems.

The attached ground lease is for a 25’ x 25’ compound for a Federal Aviation Administration air traffic surveillance and broadcast site tower at the airport. This “no-fee” lease is similar to the current lease with the National Weather Service for the on-site weather station and “no-fee” terms are required under Federal Airport Assurance 28.
Special Exception for tower installation was granted by the Zoning Board of Appeals at a hearing held on August 9 through Appeal No. Z-2011-19. Installation has been approved by the Airport Commission and the lease has the approval of the City Attorney.
ITT, under FAA contract DFTFAWA-07-C-00067, is installing these facilities nationwide as part of the FAA’s NextGen, or next generation air traffic management program. Local benefits will include safety enhancements for aircraft separation and the potential to track aircraft in the airport vicinity for noise abatement control.
