Title

Consider involuntary demolitions.

(Strategic Goal:  OLD TOWN REVITALIZATION;Goal #3 Neighborhoods

Objective 3a: PACE/ Blight Reduction    Apply International Property Maintenance Code standards proactively in identified blighted areas.  Remove unsafe structures from properties throughout the city.)

Body

The following dwellings have been condemned and letters have been sent to the owners advising them to have the buildings demolished. We either have not heard from them or  our letters were returned. Most would have qualified for the demolition assistance program. When the NSP demolition program became available, we sent one more letter to advise them that we could demolish the buildings at no charge to the owner. From a list of 32 potential demolitions, these 14 are ones that did not respond. Of the rest, 12 accepted the NSP offer and the others are being repaired. With Council's approval, we will placard the dwellings and run the required advertisement in The Herald. Documentation has been sent to the appropriate Councilmember for their review.
